We're arranging our Edge Monday Badminton Christmas Dinner so we can celebrate Christmas together as a club.&nbsp;&nbsp;This year we've booked Harper’s Steakhouse in Haslemere at 7:30 pm on Thursday, 18th December. We hope you can make it.&nbsp;

The cost is £31.95 for 2 courses or £36.95 for 3 courses. 

If you could let us know if you are planning to come along by Monday, 10th November, please.  

We ask that you pay a £10 deposit by bank transfer to the usual club bank account (where you pay fees) and then let us know by email that you have paid. 

You can either pick your menu choices when you let us know you're coming, or if you're undecided, let us know by Monday, 1st December (we'll send a reminder closer to the time).

Badminton in Haslemere for 16 and 17-year-olds

The Edge Monday Badminton Club is now welcoming youth badminton players aged 16 and 17 years old who live in Haslemere and the surrounding villages.

We were previously an adults-only Badminton Club, but we were keen to encourage young people to continue playing badminton beyond their secondary school years, so we've been working to put in place our own Safeguarding Policy, appointed our own Welfare Officer and followed guidance from Badminton England (the official national governing body for badminton in England) and we are now able to welcome anyone over 16 years old who can play badminton to the level of a reasonably experienced social player (see our "Monday Standard of Play" for details).

We play on Monday evenings between 8 and 10 pm at The Edge Leisure Centre, Woolmer Hill Road, Haslemere GU30 1QB (except for Public Holidays). We normally book between 4 and 6 courts and have between 16 and 30 players who attend each session. We have a wide age range across our membership, ranging from A-level students to those who are retired and everything in between. 

Our Session Organiser helps organise a variety of doubles games amongst all players, so please be aware that most matches will be with our adult players.

If you're 16 or 17 years old and want to play fun, social badminton in a safe environment, then register to join the Edge Monday Badminton Club using the link in the top menu.

You will need a parent or guardian to help complete the Registration Form, but it is not neccessary for parents or guardians to play at the club or to stay for the club session (although parents/guardians are very welcome to join us too), provided they can arrange safe transport for the youth member, to and from The Edge on a Monday evening.

Badminton in Haslemere for 16-17 year-olds

Edge Badminton is now running a trial of the Spond App to help us stay in touch with our members.

Spond is a free, all-in-one app designed to simplify the organisation of clubs and events. It helps sports clubs, like ours, to manage events, communicate with our members, take payment for club sessions, and more. We are also using Spond Club to help reduce the administrative burden on our volunteers, so that we can maintain our membership database safely and securely through Spond.

If you've already registered as a member with the Monday Edge Club, then all you need to do is download the free Spond App from either the App Store or the Google Play Store.&nbsp;Then create a Spond account and enter the group code "IOAQB" to connect with the Edge Monday Club or alternatively, enter the group code "CLZHL" to connect with the Thursday Edge Club.

The Edge is open again for local sports clubs

The Edge Leisure Centre in Haslemere is open again and is being managed by the Woolmer Hill Sports Association (WHSA). 

This arrangement was established after an interim agreement between Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council allowing the facility to reopen for community use. 

WHSA, which previously managed the outdoor sports pitches, now also manages the Sports Hall.

 The Edge is a dual-use facility, with Woolmer Hill School having exclusive use during school hours and then WHSA make it available to the local community and sports groups to use in the evenings and at weekends.

We are open to adult players and youth players aged between 16 and 17 years old. We mostly play doubles games and use plastic shuttlecocks, and our standard of play is between that of an experienced social player and a strong intermediate player.
